Welcome
Welcome! You've landed at the entrance of one of today's fastest moving careers. Whatever you call us--librarians, cybrarians, information brokers, webmasters or knowledge managers--graduates of GSLIS are never bored and love working with people.Alumni of the GSLIS work all over the world, in almost every setting imaginable--art museums, Fortune 500 companies, schools, research labs, Indian reservations and Hollywood. Coming from a rich heritage in which libraries served as "the people's university," LIS professionals know that libraries change lives and information makes a difference. They help make sense of the flood of data that surrounds us today--organizing, analyzing, packaging and distributing it. They assemble the information that people need to make decisions. They select and preserve the rich resources of the civilized world--rare books, digital media, numeric data and visual images--to serve society's need for informed citizens.
Here at Dominican, we have assembled a talented and enthusiastic group of faculty, complemented by a corps of outstanding adjuncts who teach and advise nearly 400 students throughout Chicago and the Twin Cities metropolitan areas. As a GSLIS graduate student, you'll have access to a wide variety of courses, small classes (typically 15-20 students) and personal attention. You'll meet a diverse group of students who will later be your colleagues in a vast network of GSLIS alumni.
Please do contact us if you have a question or comment--we'd love to hear from you!
"Our graduate program gives students the skills to build both a solid foundation on the core values of librarianship and a thorough knowledge of emerging technologies, trends and innovation in the field."
Michael Stephens
Assistant Professor
