The Latinx/Latin American Studies Minor is an interdisciplinary course of study that explores the histories and cultures of the peoples of the Caribbean, Central America, Mexico, Puerto Rico and South America. Students will learn wide-ranging perspectives that analyze cultural, economic, political and social realities, both past and present, of Latin American and Caribbean countries. The minor is also designed to give students an opportunity to develop an understanding of the diverse groups that comprise the U.S. Latinx populations. Additionally, students will examine the multiple roots of the people of Latin America, including Indigenous communities, Africa, Asia and Europe

This high-impact curriculum guides students to grow as liberal learners through study marked by depth, breadth and engaged learning, while preparing them to seek truth as ethically responsible global citizens. The program, which is open to students majoring in any discipline, uses anti-racist and decolonial academic frameworks.
