Every year Dominican University welcomes more than 100 international students from 23 countries to its campus. The students come from countries such as Saudi Arabia, Taiwan, Thailand, China, Mexico, Korea and India.
Only 10 miles from downtown Chicago, Dominican’s beautiful campus is accessible to all of the internships, career opportunities, arts, museums, and an exciting nightlife scene the world-class city provides.
In our immediate area, the Oak Park-River Forest community is rich with cultural opportunities, including a symphony orchestra which uses the university as its home, numerous art galleries, and theaters. Within walking distance of campus are restaurants, parks, museums, movie theaters, churches and retail districts. Public transportation and the free university shuttle conveniently connect the campus to downtown Oak Park and Chicago.

International Student Application Process
International students applying to Dominican University must have completed the equivalent of a United States secondary
Complete and submit the International Student Application Form and a personal essay.
Enrolling students requesting documentation for an F-1 visa must submit a Financial Statement Form to the Admissions office. This is essential for receiving an I-20 and should be submitted along with all other admission documents.
Pay a nonrefundable $100.00 application fee.
Submit official, translated transcripts from secondary schools and colleges/universities that have been attended. For university credit, the official documents and translations must be sent to one of the following agencies for an official credential evaluation:
Submit a photocopy of your passport.
Freshman applicants who have been out of high school for less than 5 years must submit official ACT or SAT scores.
The results may be forwarded directly to the Admission office from the testing agency or via the secondary school transcript.
Adult students are defined as those who have been out of high school for five years or more. If adult students give promise
of being successful, and can provide suitable evidence of a comparable body of work (i.e. successful work experience, creative/artistic works, etc.) the Admission Committee may waive some of the entrance requirements.

SOAR, ISO, New Student Registration
Once admitted to the university, Dominican is authorized by the U.S. Bureau of Citizenship and Immigration Services to issue SEVIS I-20s forms to admitted international students.
Pay a nonrefundable $100.00 tuition deposit.
International Student Orientation (ISO)
All new undergraduate and Post-Bac students are also required to attend International Student Orientation (ISO) on Thursday, August 25, even those who have attended a SOAR in the summer. This one-day program will cover academic expectations, student life, and available services and resources.
ISO is specifically aimed at assisting international students adjust to the academic and cultural climate at Dominican University, and is in addition to the SOAR. At ISO, you will meet other new as well as current international students.
At ISO you will also learn about the required, one credit course (ID 092) for which you’ll be enrolled in your first semester.

Student Orientation and Registration (SOAR)
All admitted students who are able to attend should register for Student Orientation and Registration (SOAR). This mandatory, two-day program for all new students will cover academic expectations, registering for classes, student life, and available services and resources.
New Student Registration
As an international student, we are aware you may not be able to attend SOAR. The New Student Registration on Friday,
August 26 is required for international students unable to attend the SOAR in the summer. You will take placement exams, meet
with an advisor, and register for classes at this Friday meeting.
