Alex Counts

Founder of the Grameen Foundation

October 16, 2024
5:30–6:30 p.m. Reception; 6:30 p.m Lecture
Martin Recital Hall, Dominican University

Alex Counts will share some of his most pragmatic, actionable, and surprising lessons in mission-driven leadership. He will draw from his acclaimed book Changing the World Without Losing Your Mind, his nearly four decades of experience working with some of the world's leading social entrepreneurs, including Nobel Peace Prize laureate Dr. Muhammad Yunus, and from serving as the chief executive or chairman of nonprofit organizations including the Washington, D.C.-based Grameen Foundation that have shaped the growth and development of the microfinance movement globally and the philanthropic sector more generally. He will also emphasize the importance of taking practical steps to ensure self-care, and how that can be accomplished while attempting to make major changes in society. Finally, he will address the question of what "ethical leadership" means in the context of the U.S. elections of 2024 in a nonpartisan manner.
