Employment opportunities for F-1 students are very limited. Visit the links below to learn more about employment opportunities for international students at Dominican.

Optional Practical Training (OPT)
OPT is an Employment Authorization Document (EAD work permit) which permits F-1 students to work off campus in their major field under very specific conditions.

Curricular Practical Training (CPT)
Through CPT, an F-1 student may work off campus through an internship, practicum or field placement. The work must be directly related to your major and is done during your course of study.

STEM OPT Extension
Permits certain F-1 students with degrees in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics to apply for a 24-month extension of their post-completion OPT.

Career Programs and Employers Relations
At Dominican, career development isn’t just an office or resource center. It’s an engaging process that will prepare you for meaningful work—and it begins on day one of your time here.

Student Employment
Student employment provides part-time jobs for students, allowing them to earn money to help pay education expenses. The program encourages community service work and work related to the recipient's course of study.
