Hugo Torres ’17 Appointed to the San Mateo County Board of Education

Hugo Torres ’17 has been appointed to the San Mateo County Board of Education and will represent the Board’s Trustee Area Seven. As a Latino educator, Hugo is passionate about serving the needs of San Mateo County's Latinx community and local educators to ensure student success.
Hugo works closely with the community as the director of programs for Siena Youth Center and classroom teacher at Holy Family School in the St. Francis Center in Redwood City. He is also acutely aware of the barriers families face to achieving student success.
Hugo holds a bachelor’s degree in American Studies and K-9 teaching certification from Dominican University. He also earned a master’s degree in Nonprofit Administration from the University of San Francisco. Hugo has experience teaching grades K-8 and working with students at all age levels through after-school programs and community projects and is currently pursuing his doctorate degree in educational leadership.
