Mystical Experience in the Abrahamic Traditions
REGISTRATION OPENING SOON
This course will explore the nature the mystical experience in the Abrahamic tradition. It will convey a definition of this experience, the means used to achieve it, the insights it can provide and its Abrahamic religion-specific aspects and elements. We will examine mystical experiences of religious figures in the three traditions to learn about spiritual insights that can be gained from such experiences.
The course will address such questions as: What might we learn about the nature of God by exploring these experiences? What difference did these experiences have in the spiritual lives of individuals? How did these individuals then impact the societies in which they lived? What can we learn from their mystical experiences that might impact our lives? How might one compare and contrast the terms, mysticism, spirituality and revelation? In the final session course participants will be invited to share any mystical experiences they might have had.
