Prior to arriving at Dominican University, Dr. Bowman completed a postdoctoral fellowship as a Research Instructor in Pharmaceutics (2001-2002) at the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia and served as both an Assistant Professor (2002-2008) and an Associate Professor with tenure (2008-2019) within the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences at Midwestern University College of Pharmacy-Glendale (MWU-CPG), where his primary teaching responsibilities were in physical pharmacy, dosage forms, pharmaceutical calculations, and pharmacy compounding. In addition, he offered several experiential teaching and learning opportunities that enabled both student pharmacists and pharmacy residents to serve as lab instructors within the College’s compounding labs. Dr. Bowman also served as a faculty co-advisor for MWU-CPG’s chapter of the American Pharmacists Association-Academy of Student Pharmacists and as a co-coordinator for MWU-CPG’s Student Leadership Development Program. In both these roles, he collaboratively implemented a variety of innovative leadership development strategies for the College’s student leaders, most of which centered upon the concept of emotional intelligence. Dr. Bowman’s scholarly interests have included the evaluation of novel drug delivery systems and compounded drug products, the enhancement of student learning within pharmaceutics-related courses, and the development of leadership skills within student pharmacists and have resulted in the awarding of 9 grants and contract projects (totaling $41,149.45); the publication of 48 book chapters, manuscripts, abstracts, and book reviews; and the presentation of 53 webinars, podiums, posters, and roundtables. He has also served as a leader within the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy, including as Chair of the Pharmaceutics Section (2008-2009), and has been an active member of several professional and research organizations, including the American Pharmacists Association, American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists, and Arizona Pharmacy Association.
