Genaro A. Balcazar

As Dominican University’s COO and Senior VP, Mr. Balcazar is charged with leading the enrollment and marketing efforts of an institution that has nearly doubled in size over the last two decades. Along with running all aspects of undergraduate and graduate enrollment, Genaro is responsible for managing Dominican University’s institutional brand, Department of Athletics and One-stop-shop “Stars Connect.” In his nearly 30 year higher education career, Mr. Balcazar has held numerous leadership roles at four Chicago area institutions in the fields of enrollment management, admissions & marketing and systems and operations amongst others. Genaro has served as an admissions counselor, director of admissions, director of enrollment systems and operations along with serving as vice president of enrollment and marketing at two institutions.

A native of Chicago, Genaro is a graduate of the Leadership in Enrollment Management program at the University of Southern California. He earned a master’s degree in information systems from DePaul University and a bachelor’s degree in biology from Grinnell College. Genaro is a die-hard Cubs fan and enjoys spending time hosting friends and family at his home.

He and his wife, Gloria have two children.
