Yessenia (Yessy) Hernandez is the Assistant Director/Undocumented Student Support Coordinator. Yessenia is a recent graduate from Dominican and received her Master's in Social Work with a global focus on immigrant and refugee populations. She previously received her bachelor's degree in Sociology and Criminology. As an undergraduate student, she was a part of the Office of Student Success and Engagement at Dominican as a Peer Leader and a Success Coach. Yessy previously served as a Graduate Assistant of the Center for Cultural Liberation. After serving in multiple roles that provide support and mentorship to students in their academic journey, Yessy decided to pursue working with students. In her role, Yessy works with students and families through projects such as the Family Academy, cultural and identity programming, one on one mentorship and being a Dream.US scholar Advisor. As Yessy continues her work with the CCL, she is excited to continue being a support and resource to students of all backgrounds. As a young professional, Yessy is most excited to navigate the field of higher education through a social work lens. As a lifelong learner, Yessy hopes to become a LCSW, (License Clinical Social Worker) to continue providing positive interactions and space of support to other first-generation students and young professionals. When not on campus, Yessy loves to explore the city and its surroundings.
