Identity-Based Affinity Groups for Faculty and Staff
An affinity group is a collective of individuals who come together based on shared aspects of their identity.
Purpose
The purpose of these groups is to foster a community of belonging where members can build cross-campus relationships, express and share authentic experiences, and support one another.
Objectives
- Increase a sense of belonging among faculty and staff who share a common identity.
- Provide an empowering space for faculty and staff to build trust and openly discuss their experiences.
- Facilitate discussions on the challenges faced by individuals with marginalized identities and amplify their voices

Basic Structure and Support
Leadership structures and scheduling will be determined by each group, to include following:
- Liaison and/or Co-Liaison(s) that will coordinate a monthly, one-hour meeting with affinity group members and connect with the OJEI Liaison at least two times per semester.
- OJEI Liaison offers logistical support and provides an open line of communication with the offices for Justice, Equity, and Inclusion and People and Culture.
