From Intern to Hospital Clinical Nutrition Manager
The nutrition field has such deep connections to our everyday lives. That’s what first captured the attention of Nathan Munguia at Dominican. “From agriculture to government, from medicine to our kitchen table, nutrition has its place,” he says, explaining why he chose to pursue a career in the nutrition field.
After the why came the how: a supervised practice internship through Dominican that offered more than just the field hours necessary to sit for the Registration Examination for Dietitians. “One of my clinical rotations was at AMITA Health Alexian Brothers Medical Center, where I was eventually hired. That rotation ultimately led to my current position. Today, I’m the clinical nutrition manager at AMITA Health Adventist Medical Center, Bolingbrook and GlenOaks.”
Nathan chose Dominican for its small class sizes and intense focus on the student. Looking back, he traces a direct line between his Dominican experience and a tremendously rewarding career in nutrition. “Dominican provided me the skills, education and values that helped shape me to become the leader I am today.”
