“Your professors and advisors truly care about helping you build a path to your goals. That one-on-one support led to an internship at Argonne National Laboratory, where I provide software support to scientists. Now, I have lots of ideas for ways I want to improve people’s lives with technology.”

Prepare to thrive in fast-changing fields

A survey of U.S. employers by Hart Research Associates found that 93% of bosses say that “a job candidate’s demonstrated capacity to think critically, communicate clearly and solve complex problems” is the most important factor in hiring decisions. That is the essential skill set that you will learn in this program. The curriculum is designed to prepare you for success in one of today’s most dynamic fields—and for lifelong intellectual and professional competence. You’ll be open to new ideas, proficient with the latest technology, and able to adapt and thrive through a long and meaningful career. You will earn your way into leadership positions in the profession of your choice.

Join a relationship-centered learning community

No one is lost in the crowd at Dominican. Our student-faculty ratio is 12 to 1. We cap our computer science courses at 24 students. This allows the faculty to engage each student as an individual with particular gifts, experiences and goals. The Dominican model of community is based on a recognition of the profound value and unique potential of each person. We challenge one another to find our true voices and become our best selves.

“The faculty as a whole are so supportive. They take the time to grade your code by hand and pinpoint where you went wrong. I became a much more confident developer.”
