Dominican University President Emerita Dr. Donna M. Carroll was installed as president of the Association of Catholic Colleges and Universities on July 1, the association announced.

Carroll is the executive director of the ACCU, a position she has held since September 2023. Since joining the association, she has shared leadership duties with ACCU President Rev. Dennis Holtschneider, CM, who has since stepped down from his role.

“The invitation to lead the Association of Catholic Colleges and Universities is an unanticipated blessing, allowing me to continue to serve a sector of higher education for which I care deeply,” Carroll said in a news release from the ACCU.

“We look forward to working with Dr. Carroll to help to advance Catholic higher education and to celebrate and promote its positive impact,” said Dr. Arvid Johnson, chair of the ACCU Board of Directors and president of the University of St. Francis.

Carroll served as president of Dominican University from 1994 to 2021.

Founded in 1899, the Association of Catholic Colleges and Universities serves as the collective voice of Catholic higher education and promotes the Catholic identity and mission of its member institutions.
