In the News: Dominican Alumna Hired as Forest Park Library Director

Vicki Rakowski MLIS ’10 will join the Forest Park Public Library on Jan. 23 as its new executive director, the Forest Park Review reported.

The library’s board of trustees formally approved Rakowski’s hiring on Dec. 12.

Rakowski is currently the executive director of the Barrington Area Library District, a position she has held since February 2021. She began her library career at the Forest Park Public Library 14 years ago as a youth services reference assistant.

A news release from the Forest Park Library noted Rakowski’s experience of library leadership and her empathy.

 “During the interview, she demonstrated a self-awareness and honesty you don’t see very often,” Trustee Eboni Murray said the news release. Trustee Lin Beribak added, “Vicki understands the Forest Park Public Library we want to be. Being a part of the community is important to her.”
