Dr. Ryan Calabretta-Sajder ’05 has been named director of the International and Global Studies Program at the University of Arkansas.

Calabretta-Sajder graduated from Dominican with a B.A. in Italian Studies and English Literature. He joined the University of Arkansas in 2013, teaching various subjects such as Italian, African and African American studies, comparative literature and cultural studies, and more, according to the university. He most recently was an associate professor of Italian and associate director of the university’s Gender Studies Program.

Calabretta-Sajder is president of the American Association of Teachers of Italian; president of Gamma Kappa Alpha, the National Italian Honors Society; editor of Diasporic Italy: Journal of the Italian American Studies Association; and president of the Italian American LLC (Modern Language Association).
