After Dominican
Political science provides a solid foundation for many professions, including:
- Government service
- Government and business relations
- Environmental action
- Business administration
- Association management
- Nongovernmental organization (NGO) management
- Journalism
- Law
Business School
For students who are interested in earning an MBA, Dominican’s Brennan School of Business offers a five-year BA/MBA program. Qualified students take one graduate course during each semester of their senior year and then take the remaining courses the following year—thereby reducing the time needed to complete the MBA degree.
Graduate School
Political science majors who are interested in academic careers must pursue graduate studies in political science or a related field like public policy and administration. In recent years, Dominican political science majors have attended outstanding graduate programs at American University, George Washington University, Loyola University Chicago and Northwestern University.
Law School
Nearly every year, at least one Dominican political science major goes straight to law school at leading institutions like:
- Chicago-Kent College of Law
- Georgia State College
- Hamline University
- John Marshall Law School
- Marquette University
- St. Louis University
- University of Missouri
- Washington University in St. Louis
The Department of Political Science houses Dominican’s pre-law advising program, which provides guidance and resources to Dominican students in any major who plan to pursue legal studies.
