Professor Explores Ghostly Encounters in 'The Haunting of Dominican’

Are there really spirits roaming Dominican’s hallways and corners?

Stories of strange phenomena abound around campus, and Dr. Timothy Milinovich, associate professor of theology, shared some of these tales during The Haunting of Dominican, part of the At Home with Dominican series of faculty presentations hosted by the Office of Alumnae/i Relations.

More than 100 guests joined Milinovich for the Oct. 19 program.

In the News: Dominican’s Support of Hispanic Students Featured in Suburban College and Career Guide

Dominican University’s efforts to enhance Hispanic student success were highlighted in a special edition of the bilingual suburban newspaper Reflejos.

The Reflejos College and Career Guide, published on Oct. 21, featured a piece, in Spanish, on Dominican’s new federal Title V grant, entitled “Avanzamos: Advancing Dominican University from Hispanic-Enrolling to Hispanic-Serving.” The grant’s purpose is to close equity gaps by creating additional career readiness opportunities for the 63% of Dominican University undergraduates who identify as Hispanic.

Nursing Students Practice Pediatric Skills at Easterseals Camp

The 16-hour days didn’t deter Alexis Garcia from staying at a Wisconsin Easterseals camp beyond the two weeks of his clinical nursing rotation this past summer.

Even if that meant sleeping outside the door of a camper with a habit of wandering at night.

“I went there just to knock out my pediatric clinical hours, but I loved the sense of satisfaction I got,” Garcia, a senior nursing student at Dominican University, said of his decision to volunteer as a camp counselor once his academic requirements were met.
