An office in Dominican University’s Mission and Ministry now bears the name of an alumna who gave back to the university in many ways through the decades. 

A small ceremony was held June 8 to dedicate the Office of the Vice President of Mission and Ministry in memory of M. Catherine “Cathie” Ryan ’61. A plaque with Ryan’s name now hangs outside the office in Mazzuchelli Hall. 

Brianna Yanga ’24 took home two honors during the prestigious Driehaus Awards for Fashion Excellence runway show, held May 16 in Chicago.

Yanga was awarded second place for her fashion collection “Transit Opulence,” which was featured in Dominican University’s 2024 Spring Fashion Show. She received a $7,000 cash prize.

Additionally, Yanga was presented with the Neiman Marcus Distinguished Designer Award and her designs will be featured on display at the Neiman Marcus store at 737 N. Michigan Ave. in Chicago.

Dr. Airies Davis, inaugural director of workforce development at Dominican University’s Chicago Campus, is the recipient of a 2024 Egretha Award honoring extraordinary excellence among Black women.

Davis will receive the 2024 Egretha-Entrepreneurial Impact Educational Award during a June 8 event presented by African American Women in Business and Careers (AWBC) Magazine.

Two Dominican University graduates from the class of 2014 were recently recognized by the West Suburban Chamber of Commerce and Industry as recipients of the 2024 Regional 30 Under 40 award.

Samantha Dedic and Jazmin Lopez were presented with the award on May 22 in Countryside.

The 30 Under 40 initiative honors 30 young professionals who live or work in the near west suburbs of Chicago and have made an impact on local communities through their professions, according to the chamber of commerce.
