In the News: Dominican Alumna Hired as Forest Park Library Director
Vicki Rakowski MLIS ’10 will join the Forest Park Public Library on Jan. 23 as its new executive director, the Forest Park Review reported.
The library’s board of trustees formally approved Rakowski’s hiring on Dec. 12.
Rakowski is currently the executive director of the Barrington Area Library District, a position she has held since February 2021. She began her library career at the Forest Park Public Library 14 years ago as a youth services reference assistant.

Nursing Student Naomi Moreland Awarded St. Catherine Medal for Service
Naomi Moreland, a junior nursing major, is the recipient of Dominican University’s St. Catherine Medal for the 2022-23 academic year.
Awarded by Kappa Gammi Pi, the National Catholic Honors Society, the St. Catherine Medal recognizes a sophomore or junior for outstanding service and academic achievement.
In the News: Dominican Students Decorate Local Storefronts for the Holidays
Displays designed by Dominican University students are helping draw in shoppers to a few Oak Park and Forest Park stores this holiday season.
Students in this fall’s retail promotion and visual merchandising course partnered with four shops to create storefront window displays. The students’ designs can be seen at Epyk Luxury, 7446 Madison St., in Forest Park, and Ten Thousand Villages, 121 N. Marion St.; Sugar Fixé bakery, 119 N. Marion St.; and Jayne boutique, 122 N. Marion St., in downtown Oak Park.
