In the News: Nursing Program Featured in Article About Nurse Recruitment Efforts, Increasing Diversity

Dominican University’s Borra College of Health Sciences and Elizabeth T. MacNeil School of Nursing are featured in an article on nursing shortages, recruitment efforts, and bringing more diversity to the profession, published by Diverse Issues in Higher Education.

The Feb. 13 article “Help Wanted” makes mention of virtual symposiums hosted by Dominican faculty that focused on the lack of diversity in healthcare and existing health disparities and inequities within minority communities.

Information Studies Professor Serves on Committee to Select Literary Award Recipient

Dr. Sujin Huggins, professor of information studies at Dominican University, recently served on the selection committee for the prestigious 2023 Coretta Scott King-Virginia Hamilton Award for Life Achievement.

This year, the committee selected Dr. Claudette McLinn, the founder and executive director of the Center for the Study of Multicultural Children’s Literature. The center, based in Inglewood, California, works to provide educators, librarians, students and parents with access to multicultural children’s books.

Dominican University to Host Literary Hall of Fame Ceremony; Oak Park Author Recognized

Dominican University will host the presentation of the Chicago Literary Hall of Fame’s Fuller Award to acclaimed author Harriette Gillem Robinet. 

The ceremony will take place on Tuesday, March 14 in the Performing Arts Center, beginning at 6 p.m. It is free, but tickets are required. They can be reserved here
